Prinicpal's Message

Loyola College, a Catholic Minority Institution, was founded by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) in 2005, with the primary objective of providing University Education in a Christian atmosphere for deserving students irrespective of caste and creed. It started functioning in July 2005 with just 65 students on the rolls in undergraduate courses. Loyola College affiliated to Sant Gahira Guru University, Sarguja, Ambikapur in July 2008.

ST. IGNATIUS OF LOYOLA

College is named after St. Ignatius of Loyola, a Saint who was born at Loyola in North Spain, in 1491. He at first pursued a military career. In 1521 in the battle of Pamplona against King Francis I of France, he was struck by a canon shot that wounded one leg and broke the other. In the course of his convalescence at Loyola, he first read mundane literature, and when there was no more literature of this kind, he was given a book called “The Life of Christ” and another “The Flower of the Saints”.

In its effort to extend service in various fields, the Society of Jesus, the M.P. Province in response to the demands of the people decided to open LOYOLA COLLEGE at Kunkuri in Jashpur District from July 2005 with the motto: "Excellence and Transformation".

Loyola College is established and administered by LOYOLA JESUIT SOCIETY, a charitable Society under the Articles 30(1) of the Constitution of India, primarily meant for Christian minorities.
